Download
OpenQuokka for Windows
Unzip it and open it. Everything is inside, its own AI too, so there’s nothing to install and it works with no internet at all. Your data stays on your computer, in one file.
openquokka-windows-x64.zip · Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit · about 2 GB (most of it is the AI) · 8 GB of memory recommended
Start it
Unzip it
Right-click the download, choose Extract All, and pick a folder (Documents is fine).
Open OpenQuokka.exe
It’s inside the folder, with the quokka icon. The first time, Windows may say it protected your PC: choose More info › Run anyway.
It opens in its own window
Right-click its taskbar button and choose Pin to taskbar to keep it there. Close the window to quit. If Windows asks about the firewall, you can say no: it only talks to this computer.
What works offline, and what doesn’t
With no internet
The AI: it runs on your computer (Qwen3, a small open model; an answer takes about half a minute on a typical laptop, less with a graphics card). Your plan, agenda, goals and focus timer. Study: flashcards, quizzes, games. Files you add, and Missions that work on them. Spaces on this computer.
Needs the internet
Google Docs, Drive and Calendar (they live on Google’s servers), with your own Google sign-in setup. Groq’s faster, bigger AI, if you add a key. Spaces with friends on other computers: use the website for those.
Already use the website? In the app, choose Connect my website account: it shows a code to type at openquokka.app/link, and your chats, goals and decks come along. Your data: C:\Users\you\.openquokka. Only your Windows account can read it. Back it up, or delete it to start over. Every version is on GitHub releases.
